Still, knowing about ladder breakage with the Missions, I would keep a

Could you elaborate please? I've not heard about that. So far this
season though, I won't be too far away from a Burton retailer.

Sure, I'm sorry Dave, I thought you might have seen my much earlier post
on my families experiences with various binding manufactures products.

The Mission Darks that we owned suffered from ladder breakage (it just
snapped into two) and a flad somehow came up missing after a run.

When we went to replace the ladder, the shop in the area stated they had
seen allot of such issues with the Burton ladders. It apparently only
happens in very cold weather. Of course this drew a big laugh, seeing
the only time you would use the equipment is in "cold weather".

The flad is a bit more of a mystery. The only thing I have been able to
surmise is the flad somehow became unbuckled (or the teenager forgot to
buckle it) and every deep heal side turn gave it half a twist. A flad
being missing did not kill the day, and Burton quickly replaced it. What
are they for anyways?!?!

Hope this helps,

Chris

Good call, but it was you that mentioned "not agreeing with their
government". If you don't want such threads here (and I agree this is
not the place), then you should avoid such throwaway lines.

It was not put forth as a hostile sentence in so much as that such bias
should be put aside, in particular for this equipment.

It was not a throw away line. Regrettable at this point, maybe.

Take it off line if you want to fan the flames. Sorry I inadvertently
lit the match.

Whoa.....I hope we're all out there to ride...and, try to provide info
to other riders, both current & future, to get the most out of
snowboarding! If anyone need some ladders and, doesn't really care
about colorway - let me know, I'll send some for the cost of ship (at
least until my supply starts to dwindle!).

And, France is the place I would really like to ride! Both my board &
bike!

By "ladder" are you referring to the toothed strap? I've only known these
to break on old bindings after a number of years, and that's why I carry
spares with me.

One thing that my Mission bindings seem to do though is chew up the
plastic teeth. The ratchet can slip when tightening up that last bit and
after a while it gets worse resulting in a very chewed up strap and the
ratchet not remaining in place. I've had mine replaced twice now. Both
times the retailer just swapped them over and sent me away with a smile,
but it would have been annoying, say in the middle of a heliboard trip.

I go through a set every year with the TechNine's and SnowPro's. Tooth
damage is why I am trying out Ride's Tomcats and Nitro's Raidens. Both
have a wheel that makes contact with the strap so it is more difficult
for the ratchet to bite in a little sideways damaging a tooth.

I see you tighten up your bindings till your toes go blue as well! Glad
to see I am not the only one.

Regards,

Chris

OK, thanks... maybe I should add that to the FAQ terminology section

It just seems to be a case of cheaper or lighter plastic - this never
happened with my first Burton Freestyle bindings - they lasted 6
seasons, and although various bits were replaced, never did the straps
get chewed up.

These Missions are the only ones it's happened with, but I'm glad (in a
way) that it's happening to you as well.

It's only the heel strap that I really crank down, although that depends
on the conditions. The toe strap, which is now a toe "cap" on the
Missions, I've never found to be that important.

A lot of Americans are in a snit over lack of French support for the Iraq
war.

Then again a lot of Americans disagree with the American government
regarding the Iraq war.... (not trying to start a politicalk flame here,
just stating a fact...) however I betchs most of said Americans are not
going out of their way to avoid buying American-made products!
