Hmmm. Arre you using some sort of non-usenet 'forum' which sucks in usenet and pretends that it owns it? I set a google alert for myself, and it showed some dumb 'forum' site I'd never visited/heard of which had sucked in our posts from 2003 and redated them to the current date. Shoddy practice to say the least. You mean as in Google Groups? No. My local ISP has real news servers. They are limited and sometimes go down but are not Internet servers. No, GG seems pretty straighforward in a convolute sort of way. Example of the web-based 'forums' that seem to be designed to suck in the unwary for some unknown purpose: ------------------- Sierra Club sells out!! by the real bev on Sun Sep 12, 2010 2:04 pm. So much to learn... What is a Happenstance Ranger? Whoa. -- Cheers, Bev ... http://www.tonews.com/post/3895413/sci/sierra_club_sells_out.html ------------------- This is the one that sucked up the 2003 posts from several groups and mashed them into a single 'thread'. ****heads. This is the message I got when I've tried to post either by "reply" or "write" a new post. Any advice on this would be appreciated. I'm using the Ubuntu version of Thunderbird as my mail reader. Thanks in advance. Never seen this before, have you recently changed/added/upgraded any software? Thunderbird has been (automagically) upgraded recently as have other bits in Ubuntu here and there but nothing very significant. Thunderbird/linux has had some quirky updates recently, but I haven't had any problems like VT describes. Maybe the next update will fix it. ;-] They seem to be coming faster than they used to. Are they getting better at finding bugs or at creating them? -- Cheers, Bev @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ "Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. I is where newservers should send moderated group msgs, which it should send on to appropreate moderators for approval. It doesn't look as if it is sending msgs on - if that's the case it's before moderators are involved. Nothing has arrived at my moderation interface for approval. I think the specific 'moderator' address is set up when the group is begun, and depends on who got whom to host the group for free. moderators.isc.org -- whoever they are -- is entirely out of the loop, and messages sent there do not reach the actual moderation site. -- Cheers, Bev @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ "Look again at that dot. Personally, I'm getting really skittish about upgrades and have no confidence whatsoever in being able to downgrade. I refused to move to ie8.0, finally got tired of it trying to install itself...I hope I don't have to uninstall again, or its off to fire fox |

Dave I think an occasional reminder is useful, but the repetition of the last few hours is pointless. |
