Trip report - Stowe, Vermont - 14 Dec 2007

I skied today at the Trapp Family Lodge touring center in Stowe,
Vermont. Conditions were very good. (I was tempted at first to go all
the way to "excellent" - on the poor/fair/good/very good/excellent scale
- but then I found a km of trail without set tracks, so I feel justified
in holding back.) Almost all trails were groomed. The Chute and Hare
Line were open but not groomed.

New this year is snowmaking, possibly up to 9 km, according to an
article in the local newspaper. But they don't need it now. Lots of
snow everywhere, and we're expecting a big nor'easter on Sunday ...

I skied today (Dec 15) at the Stowe Mountain Resort, and then up to the
Trapp trails. Conditions were good to very good at SMR, very good at
Trapp. Almost all the SMR trails were groomed. (Exceptions: Double Bit
from Houston to Bear Run, Wash Run, Skidder. Also Ranch Valley Cruise,
which was closed because a bridge was out.) It was good, though, to see
that the "corkscrew" section of Stowe Derby was being groomed again.

Everyone is still waiting for tomorrow's killer blizzard ...
