Default Chambery Airport Departures & La Plagne Snow

Just back from La Plagne. 2 years ago after another episode of
claustrophobia in the Departures area of Chambery Airport, vowed never
to use the airport again but we did anyway.

Once again hassled experience in Chambery departures on a Saturday. It
seemed to us that not all flights were called to check-in on the board.
When ours still didn't appear after a while - we asked a check-in
person who showed us to a desk where we were amoung the last to check
in for our flight. Then we joined the big long snaking queue for
security - this didn't move and eventually we had to go to the front
when it was getting tight.

It turns out that, due to limited space airside of security, you can't
proceed through until your flight is called to go through security.
However most of the announcements are difficult to hear. Not being used
to this system, most Brits line up in the queue, the front of which is
refused entry to security because their flight isn't called yet. This
queue becomes totally static. People then get urgent calls to bypass
the queue and go to the front. This could all be solved by better
management and communication - although the problem is compounded by
people queuing when they should be waiting.

La Plagne snow. Average/Good really - Generally good coverage, some
bare patches, some stones. Quite hard overall with quite a lot of icy
patches. Helped a lot by 2 light snowfalls this week. Could do with a
good dump.

Chambery may not be great but I would always user it over the alternative of
Lyons (well for chartered flights at least)

Did Chambery once and never again. Using the Eurostar this Saturday.
Door to door timing is only one hour longer than if we took the flight
from East Midlands to Chambery.
