Default My Northshore Spring Skiing Experience

Well, I'm back from my spring skiing at Sugar Bowl (Man I love that
resort!).
Highs in the 60's and no crowds.
Great staff.
Great mountain.

Hey, nobody told me that the spring snow was sticky; like skiing on
flypaper.
I found a part of the mountain where the skiing wasn't sticky and had a
blast.
I overheard a boarder describing the snow as mashed potatoes; that seemed
like a real good description.
I never experienced the corn ya'll keep talking about (unless I did and just
didn't know it).

Went to Reno (it really is only 30 minutes away) and contributed generously
to their economy.
I know, the odds are always in favor of the casino, but ...

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express; nice place, great location.
Stopped at Lisa's Central Market in Truckee for some snacks; you've got to
check out Lisa's oranges, they're huge!

As great as it was to ski in shorts/t shirt weather (the scenery was great),
I'm looking forward to the next big snow and cold air. I guess I'm just
funny that way.

One time maybe 7 or 8 years ago I got stuck at the main lodge after a
quick bite because after a big storm they couldn't get gasoline to the
beginner chair (or so I heard- doesn't make sense, do chairs run on
gas?)... so we had to hike up to silverbelt (now summit express- a very
easy hike). The snow was facking awesome and hardly anyone was on the
mountain. Then we got back to the Mount Judah lodge and they refunded
most of our ticket. I love Sugar Bowl.

Reno sucks.

Which oranges are we talking about?

Like most skiers.

Yes.

I find myself starting out at Mt. Judah and immediately working my way over
to Disney where I spend the majority of my day, then back to Lincoln for a
few runs, then back to the Jerome Hill Express for an easy finish and a
couple of runs down Donner's Way.

My favorite runs off Disney are Montgomery to Lower MacTavish and Eagle or
Donald Duck to Lower MacTavish or Lonesome Pine and Market Street (groomed).

Learning to ski at my age, I don't have high hopes of skiing everything
Sugar Bowl has to offer. I think it's an excellent
intermediate/advanced/expert resort, but not so great for older beginner's
(too limited off the beginner lifts).

You can take a look at my Sugar Bowl Advice topic I just posted to get an
idea of what kind of skill level I'm at to help understand my perspective a
little better.
