Blister mania
Hi,
I just got home from a rollerski with short fingered gloves on. I have the most insane blisters now on the tips of my fingers. How do other folks do this? I guess it must take years to get leather hands because this is the second time I've done this and I already have little calusses all over my hands. :O( cheers Bob |

I have calluses on the palm side of my knuckles (where the fingers join the palms), and on the path between the thumb and index finger, so in the past I have gotten blisters there and on my palms if I don't wear gloves, but I have never had any blisters on the fingertips. Are you experimenting with some new and exotic poling technique :-) ? Chris |

One thing would be to wear full-fingered gloves, like the Yoko ones made
with rollerskiing in mind. The other is to look at your poling technique to check if you are gripping the poles tightly with your fingers -- you shouldn't be. The method varies for different people, but one common one is crooks of fourth and fifth fingers for guiding the pole on the return and primary pole action by the hand through the straps, not by gripping the pole. Straps have to be adjusted correctly to allow this. Which poles (make/model) and strap style are you using? Gene Bob Creasote wrote: No new technique, just computer nerd hands. Really soft.
