Marwe 610C versus 610
Hi RSN'ers
Last night a buddy of mine & I rollerskied (I know! So early in the season!) and he had some shiny new very fancy looking Marwes which could be mistaken for Fischers. Slick graphics. They turn out to be the 610 "C" Model for $399 and the 610 standard model is still available for the old $349. They seemed to me to be much faster than the standard 610s. Do you have any experience with these new Marwe's? What is the word on the street about the two? What is the intent? The website doesnt help - they are both medium speed so, what gives? Thanks. DT |

DT The standard 610s are wooden. The website lists 610Cs as having a unique Nanoepoxy Aircell Core Cap. Which doesn't sound like wood. Don't know anything more than that. I like my 610s, maybe they needed a reason for people to pay $50 more. Standard 610s aren't terribly fast. Bob Schwartz |

It'd be a good question for Greg Weir or Tom Novack at Finn Sisu (888-finn-sisu). If you find out what the Nanoepoxy Aircell Core Cap is, please let us know.

Greg says the C model has a cap ski shaft. Same wheel speed as ol'
woody 610 standard. Perhaps one of my buddies ended up with dirt in the bearings (slower) and the guy with new ones has the speed the Marwe's should all have. The speed parts are all the same in either model. They are slick looking though, very flash. I guess ya gotta have nano nanos these days |

If you ever get a chance to compare with the woodies, pass along your impressions.

If you ever get a chance to compare with the woodies, pass along your impressions. Hello folks, the main difference with the new 610C ski is that it is more torsionally stiff. In other words, like with the newer racing skis on snow, they do not twist as much. But there is still much the same spring when you push downwards on them. The wheels are exactly the same as with the standard 610, so there should not be much difference speed-wise. The ski component is made in collaboration with Peltonen, the Finnish maker of racing skis. Hope this helps - I had much the same questions, and had a good chat with Marwe about it, Iain Ballentine www.rollerski.co.uk (UK Marwe dealer) Gene On Wed, 26 Aug 2009 07:12:48 -0700 (PDT) DAT wrote: Greg says the C model has a cap ski shaft. I wonder if those of us short of elite would be able to tell the
difference in torsional stiffness. Now if it's rolling and vertical (push-off) stiffness, we certainly would.
