"Investigators believe Michael Schumacher's skiing accident was made
worse by helmet camera"

Reported all over...
Sounds like utter nonsense, as much as I'd like to slam helmet-cams.

It depends on mounting used. It makes sense as there have been multiple
suppositions and speculations.
If you drill holes you stand a chance of damaging helmet, often the
adhesive is so so. Shoe glue is a good fix. But if you have an extended
holder and you can create more forces with leverage or create a punch to
penetrate the helmet if you hit just right
The best way is bullet cam with stretchable strap over helmet.

Anything hard mounted on a helmet would be something to focus energy on a point
of the helmet. Doesn't sound like nonsense to me.

Might be quite a video.

I noticed that the helmet cams worn by the girls in yesterday's
snowboard cross at Sochi were very loosely attached and kept falling
off, probably for that very reason.
