Profiles, Irons, and Vices put aside, its important that you learn how
to base prep skis and complete waxes properly so that you don't damage
your skis.

If you're new to waxing, I would suggest going with a profile anyway
because you don't want to creat any unnescessary damage to the ski. A
good profile will help ensure a bit more that you scrape the ski
properly with deviating much from a straight scrape. And if you have to
do new skis, you'll be doing heavy brushing so you'll need a profile.

Start with the profile, get the vice after.

and if you need some ideas on waxing drop me a line.

I'm new to this group and I've learned a lot already. I'm planning to
start doing my own waxing on my skis. I've looked at the descriptions
in catalogues for vice sets (like Swix Caploc) and profiles. Does
anyone have some thoughts on which would be a better way to go? Also,
what are the best irons in the $100 range? Thanks
