Recommendations in Logan Canyon, Wellsville Range, or Cache Valley ?
Skied Beaver Mountain once upon a time, seemed like a good stop on the way
to Steamboat. Freshies all day long, friendly locals who took you to their secret stashes, cheap lift tickets. I could hardly believe I was in Utah. "Yabahoobs" wrote in message oups.com... Yeah, don't you hate it when you post a question over the long weekend, and no one comes home to check their newsgroups and answer it. Any recommendations ?? Im lookin wide-eyed at what I see around here...Lots of ideas...Just wondering if anyone else has experience in this area. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

Dont get me wrong, the Beav is nice...and only a five minute hike up a hill above the top of the chair gets you to the untracked "Beav Backside" (insert joke here), but when y ou live so damn close you feel like you've been on every square inch of the place within a few visits. I absolutely LOVE the owners / ticket employees...I think they're all from the same family that owns / operates the place. It's definatly an oasis from the typical Xxxx resorts. |

They couldn't have been nicer. Good people. I actually got talked into doing a bit of hiking there. Which given my condition and the fact that I live at sea level, much less my first day at real altitude, demanded some patience on their part. Foot and a half of good ol' fashioned Ooootah pow was my reward. Later in the day, I helped out on an injury call, nasty bit of steep slope through trees, doing what I do best: acting as a belay anchor. They gave me a gift on the way out: a "Beaver Patrol" t-shirt. I have to be careful where I wear it. Allow me another suggestion. Powder Mountain. The shuttle service back up the hill is great, they get crapped on, and share the small mountain ethos. Or if you feel a bit upscale, Snowbasin midweek is a hoot. Nobody home, world class facilities, and the tourists never will discover the place. I've been known to pass up freebies and drive from Pork Sushi to ski the place. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

Yeah I've heard great things bout the Basin. I'll definatly be checking those two places out alot this season, as now that know Snowboid is looking to get even bigger than they already are...I need a place that is actually worth driving to. Im not driving 70 minutes down I-15 just to get crammed into the Tram after a 20 minute wait. I think there's even a back road that connects to that canyon out of southern Cache valley. Although I doubt it's used in winter... |
