While a single stick pole will be lighter all other things being equal,
for a price you can/could buy adjustable poles for skating. Some
Nordic Centers use the adjustbles in their rental fleets.

$260 USD and they reportedly adjust to 180 cm.

Right now we're working on the snow dance. But I think it's going to
be six months or so before I'm good enough at it for it to do any good.

I used that technique for years with only intermittent success then I
switched to the snow drive. I find that yields much more consistantly
positive results.

Lessons schmessons, I don't think they would have helped me very much.
