Is he going to talk about the article I read in the paper today
where he thinks it's really cool to ski (and race) drunk?

Janet

The snips I've read have him talking about how he's done it, not
how he "thinks it's cool".

My bet is that Bode drunk is in more control than 100% of the
borders and 80% of the skiers out there.

Bode is not responsible for anyone else's behavior. Period.
Still, it's a shame when role models, whether they want to be or
not, promote negative behavior through their actions and words that
will influence young malleable minds.

(snipped)
If they don't ask to, they're not. It is 100% the "parents"
responsibility.

Pigo, As a former teen and a current parent, I've learned that what
influences my kids from middle school on is their peers and not
their parents. We still have to teach by example, and our efforts
will be rewarded later, but it's a fact that teens buy what their
peers are selling before even considering what their parents are
selling.

As a former teen, I agree. And the same is true no matter what Bode
does.

And there are plenty of kids that behave responsibly no matter the
behavior of "role models".

Would everyone behaving "perfectly" make your job as a "parent"
easier? Of course! Because your kids would be part of that fantasy
world too. Moot point.

See my other post, if you want, where I stated emphatically, that
Bode is not responsible for anyone's behavior other than his own.
It's his choice whether to serve as a positive role model, or not.

I saw and responded to your other post as well. My point is that no
one has ANY responsibility for ones children outside of their family
or people hired for that job along the line of teachers or care
providers.

Text is on the CBS website under 60 minutes; I've got the link around
somewhere if anyone wants it and can't find it.

I have read it several times and viewed a few more web sites and spoke
to a few non skiers that watched 60 minutes most felt that he got the
shaft in that story.

"Bode called it "character assassination" and said CBS was assuring him
by midday it was a "glowing profile.""

You know, my read on it is that far from glorifying it (as some have
accused him of doing), he's explaining why skiing drunk is a Bad Idea.
But even so, he's now got all kinds of people (including Bill Marolt)
down on his ****.

I give even odds that he tells Marolt to go **** himself and quits.

What paper? Is there a url for the article?

Every time he opens his mouth I lost more and more respect for him.

Every time he opens his mouth any more I lose more respect for him.
After this and the comments he made about legalizing doping in sports,
he's placed himself squarely on the lunatic fringe.

You have to lay the role model **** on him too? When he gets tired of racing
he can move up to sponsored big mountain skiing. People are more interested
in Resi than Pepi Steigler nowadays. And nobody gives a **** what Tommy Moe
drank for breakfast before a Jackson Hole Air Force bombing run off Fat
*******. It's not like they're babysitting clients guiding either. That's

Interesting interpretation of my statement, Mr. Davis. What about my
opening sentence: Bode is not responsible for anyone else's behavior.
Period.

That was followed with the idea that it's a loss when people who can be role
models choose not to take advantage of the opportunity. I don't recall
laying " the role model **** on him."
