Steve, if there's any way you can afford a McHale custom backpack, get one.
I had several backpacks--some very highly touted like the Wild Country
"Andanista," Gregory Palisades, etc. I wasn't satisfied.

I called Dan McHale, had a long talk with him--you will get Dan and he will
give you the time--he made me a pack and I loved it. My first one was a big
load hauler. Next season I got a day/overnight pack a SARC and it is
perfect as well. They last forever. I must have 200 days using my SARC and
it's good as new. The fit is sublime.

All my old packs are in plastic bags in my basement and are about to be sold
on eBay.
