Summer Storage: Hot Scraping v. Brass Brushing
I started the process of preparing my skis for summer storage and
wondered how to make it take less time. The steps I follow are; 20 passes of soft Brass Brush, hot scrape (2 or 3 passes of iron over CH10 then wipe with fiberlene, then scrape immediately) and then 1 or 2 passes over crayoned-on Swix Base Prep. What I noticed was that there is no visible dirt in the wax I hot-scrape off, so wonder if this step is really necessary? Other possibilities that occurred to me are that one needs to iron in the CH10 for a good 5 minutes before the dirt rises to the surface, or that the dirt is somehow not visible in the scraped off wax, but is there anyway. Or perhaps the really soft brass / copper brushes do a good job of cleaning on their own. Any feedback / data would be appreciated. |
