WINTER STORM WARNING
WASATCH MOUNTAINS SOUTH OF I-80-WASATCH PLATEAU/BOOK CLIFFS-
WESTERN UINTA MOUNTAINS-
430 PM MST SAT DEC 6 2003

....WINTER STORM WARNING TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IS CONTINUING THE WINTER STORM WARNING
FOR WASATCH MOUNTAINS SOUTH OF I-80...THE WESTERN UINTA MOUNTAINS
AND THE WASATCH PLATEAU THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT. PERIODS OF SNOW WILL
INCREASE TONIGHT ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN UTAH WITH THE SNOW
LEVEL NEAR 7000 FEET. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE HEAVY AT TIMES THROUGH
SUNDAY NIGHT WITH THE SNOW LEVEL LOWERING TO ALL AREAS SUNDAY
MORNING.

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS BY MONDAY MORNING ARE EXPECTED TO BE 8-15
INCHES IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS AND 15-30 INCHES ABOVE 7500 FEET. IN
ADDITION TO THE SNOW...SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 20-30 MPH WILL INCREASE TO
20-40 MPH LATE TONIGHT...ESPECIALLY IN PASSES AND OPEN HIGHER
ELEVATION AREAS. BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL BE WIDESPREAD IN
EXPOSED AREAS UNTIL THE WINDS WILL SLOWLY DECREASE LATER SUNDAY.

THE SNOW IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE MONDAY...ESPECIALLY OVER THE WASATCH
MOUNTAINS. SIGNIFICANT ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE AND
THESE WARNINGS MAY NEED TO BE EXTENDED.

MOTORISTS AND RESIDENTS OF THE NORTHERN UTAH MOUNTAINS SHOULD EXPECT
WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY.
