Pre BIrkie/Birkie trail conditions
As I always do I skied the Pre-Birkie today, instead of Mora, I like
the Birkie Hills, compared to the flatter terrain at Mora. The conditions on the trail were great coverage, However, the trail has not set up well from grooming during the week. The trail was very soft on the up hills. I thought it was just my skiing the trail after 200 other skiers had been on the trail in front of me, But I talked with a top 25 skier and he said it was soft in the front. The birkie crew will need to groom/till daily to get the trail to firm up for all the Birkie/Korte racers, otherwise those in wave 2 and back will be skiing up hills in snow up to our knees. I am sure they will do the best. At least they don't have to worry about lack of snow or a major melt down this year if you look out 2 weeks in the forecast. |
