Default Any metric where US skiers are "up there"?

I'm wondering if there are any metrics by which US skiers rank up at
the top or at it. You know, like in fitness tests of any type (sit-ups,
push-ups, dips, broad jump), in VO2-Max, and in any other sports that
skiers tend to do, like running, cycling, inline, heck even
rollerskiing. Are any of our skiers known to be "the dude to beat"? I'd
think that Carl might be a better mtbiker than other skiers but I don't
know where he's placed in world mtbike events---for all I know there
are Norgie skiers who ride a faster bike. Who what about just plain
killer workouts. If we ruled SOMEWHERE it would seem to give hope.
Like, man, Andy hasn't broken thru on skis yet but NO ONE can touch
him in chin-ups. --JP

How do we do at training camp or glacier soccer matches or basketball
games? C'mon, are we in there? --JP

Sorry, Jeff, skiing is what they do for living, so everything is else
is irrelevant. It's like when I suck in ski races my wife says: well,
but you're smart. Yeah right. When I suck at work, too, she says the
reciprocal thing.

I got caught into your trap: the husband/wife thing was too provocative.

I'm also curious about these metrics just to see if our folks are
better athletes at ANYTHING. If those folks overseas mop us up in
trainings, in biking, in running, in push-ups, well, darn I can see why
they'd kick us in skiing. But if some of our skiers are known to be
untouchable on the bike or on a trail run or in the 440 dash or even in
dips...then I'd be a little more hopeful, like now all we have to do is
shift this atheticism on over to the boards... It's corny I know but I
look for hope wherever I can. --JP
