Is the Southern part of the Gatineau Park skiable? (Dec 7)
Mike,
As of last Saturday, the entire Parkway system was skatable. People report being able to ski on good skis from P1 to Champlain lookout. We got the perfect first snowfall - 3-5cm of freezing rain covered with 5cm of snow. It all hardened to form a protective crust over the asphalt and even the rocky trails (Ridge Road and Burma) but with a nice soft top to edge into. Since Saturday we've added 10cm of snow, so grooming shouldn't be far off. Classic tracks aren't really set yet, so if you want a skied in track P10 is your best bet. Vauhti carrot or a generic blue will work well today. Rock skis are recommended on the trails, but good skis can be used on the Parkways from P10-Champlain-Black's-P8-P9 anyways. Enjoy the skiing regardless of where you start. Craig www.xcottawa.ca webmaster On Dec 7, 11:54 am, "mike" wrote: Just wondering whether I should drive to P10 instead of P3? |
