OP:
There's got to be numerous ways to get to Vail from DIA - it's to Vail's
advantage that you arrive without any transportation out.

If you have a car, it's a lot easier to go ski someplace other than
Vail.

Exactly what they fear most - comparison shopping.

When I headed that way, there was 3 shuttle companies. CMEx, some resort
express mob, and another. I used 2 of them, there and back. From memory,
CMEx was the best. The mob I took from my hotel in denver to Summit were a
bit dodgey, the van broke down in another hotel's driveway and they had to
get another one.
CMEx were good, I booked them to get me from staff accomm by 7am on a day. I
started moving my stuff out just after 6am as there was 5 month's worth of
it, and they were in teh carpark, having breakfast.

CMEx bought Resort Express. I haven't seen a 'Vans to Vail' van for
some time.

10" new at Breck today, I should have been driving my car up there
instead of driving it to work. Maybe tomorrow, I think it is supposed to
snow more up there today.

Wasn't there a company called "Van to Vail" a few years back ?
I remember seeing one of their vans upside down in the ditch during
a snow storm. That would ruin your vacation !

There is another company called "Home James". I know they go to Winter Park
because I used them once when my truck popped a timing belt. Maybe they
do Vail too.

After reading all the reports here I am very afraid.... Yes, it is
less expensive to rent the car with a family of 4. But since our trip
back to the airport is with 7 people, we are going to be able to rent a
private van shuttle. That makes the one way shuttle on the way out to
Vail as the most thrifty option. Our travel agent booked us on Vans to
Vail - so they do still exist. We are doomed...

Maybe not. I'm pretty sure the driver of the van I saw upside down doesn't
work there anymore :-)

**** it. Show up with your confirmation #, have someone go to the
counter while you wait for luggage, and count it as part of the
adventure. It' a 2 hr. drive. Bring some beers.

2 hours DIA to Vail? I think it's a bit more than that?
