The secret to Solomon lace locks?
Hello All:
I use the Solomon Pilot skate boots and the laces have never stayed tight for more than a few kilometers. My (more experienced) skier friends say there is nothing you can do about it, but I just can't believe that. Hard for me to imagine that the guys on the world cup are finishing with loose boots. There must be a way to have the laces STAY tight. Can someone please tell me how you get the laces to stay tight? Thanks, Jim --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I have not had this problem with my Salomon Pilot boots. Do you
adjust the other straps on your boots to fit your foot? The reason that I ask is if the straps are not fitting right then your foot may be sliding around and putting more pressure on the lace lock. --Matt "Jim Martin" wrote in message ... The secret to Solomon lace locks?
That's strange, I have two pairs of pilots, and laces never get loose.

There must be a way to have the laces STAY tight. I never had this problem with the yellow and black, but last year's carbon skate loosens up on me. I am thinking of getting the whole lace and tie assembly replaced. In the meantime, I just tie an overhand knot with a single quick release loop on top of the quick lace mechanism to hold it in place: works great. Jim Farrell |

The locks on my present pair are fine, but the earlier pair (which
Salomon replaced fro free when the pin bent a bit after several years of use) had one lace lock which tended to loosen. I found that after tightening, if I manually pushed the plastic thingee in the correct direction, it would lock down fine. Best, Peter |

I had that problem with Alpina SK2000 boots but not with the Pilots.

That's what I do but it doesn't help. Sounds like, from the other responses, I may be able to take em back for new buckles or boots. Thanks, Jim --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. After tightening up I wrap the laces just below the lace lock a few times
and this seems to hold it tight. The FrontRunner "Jim Martin" wrote in message ... Hello All: I use the Solomon Pilot skate boots and the laces have never stayed tight for more than a few kilometers.
