Was at Les arcs last year....it was so good we're going back to Arc2000 this
year on a ski-to-door with a party of 12. Had friends staying in Les Coches
so went there quite a lot. A nice base for newbies. Make sure to go for a
meal or two at La Taverne du Mocha (or something like that) at the bottom of
the Plan du Bois chairlift!

Good resort for families as not as busy as the main La Plagne resorts.
May just be a bit quiet in early January as it's low low season so as
long as you are not seeking nightly rave parties you should be ok. The
Last One pub is a decent place though.
Some of the Pierre et Vacances accommodation is a bit dated now but
there are new residences being built like Les Chalets de Wengen.
Otherwise access to the slopes is good and not normally an issue with
snow at that time of year especially since it's north-facing and they
have snow cannons.
A great thing about Les Coches is that you can ski Les Arcs in no time
by taking the Vanoise Express lift.
Taverne du Monchu does indeed come recommendend.
