Crikey things are expensive in Zurs. Looked at the brochures (just for some ideas), and it's 1.5 to 2 times more expensive than other places. Is it a real snobs paradise or what? Well, the choice is pretty much limited to 5 star hotel or 5 start hotel so it's not going to be cheap. I wouldn't say it was a snobs paradise, the people there are very down to earth for royalty:-) A Scandanavian bloke in St Anton told me that in Lech you can hire small dogs to walk around with. Not sure if he was serious or not. Probably not, more likely that if you have a small dog someone wil walk it for you. With regards to St. Anton, we were there between x-mas and new year this year. It was pretty busy. Problem areas were getting out of the town on the Gampen side in the morning or after lunch, and all the home runs Like any of the major resorts it can be very busy at New Year. I've found Xmas to be *relatively* quiet in St Anton but all hell breaks loose at New Year. on that side from about 16h00 onwards. The rendle side was always quiet. Always the case, if it's busy it's a good idea to head for Rendl, or get a bus to Lech. |

"Switters" wrote in message ... Any recommendations for Austria? Looking for something quiet, short lift lines, quiet night-life (or accomodation away from the main spots), good snow and a good mix of terrain. St Anton sounded like the obvious choice, but I've heard bad reports about the crowds. - Dave. -- The only powder to get high on, falls from the sky. http://www.vpas.org/ - Snowboarding the worlds pow pow - Securing your e-mail |

Hi David
Half-term (Europena half-term) may result in a busy week but I;ve been two years running and not noticed any problems with crowding at all. You may be right, since I went there only on weekends and while usual vacation dates. Florian |

Lech maybe, but Zurs is pretty much big hotels. OK, I was joking a bit, there are several 4 star and a couple of 3 star hotels but I don't know of anything else. No way is there a huge number of pension in Zurs. There isn't a huge number of anything in Zurs. |
