Skiing in South America

I'm planning on skiing in Chile or Argentina this summer with a core
group of friends. Does anyone have suggestions on favored countries,
areas, ect... We are fairly hard-core and prefer something steep (power
is always nice) and are not scared to hike for turns. We have basic
rescue and avalanche safety skills.

We were thinking of renting an apartment on a short-term basis to keep
cost down. Any thoughts? Also, we are looking for ski clubs/groups
headed the same direction that we could share costs and discounts. If
anyone knows of heli-ski operation in S. America willing to entertain a
mere mortal's budget, I'm all ears.

Are ultimate goal is to establish a core group for a 2006/2007 heli-ski
trip to Alaska.
