Default Resources for the newly-hooked!

Hi there...did my first ever 20km race this past weekend and am hooked
on this sport now. I have a history of Ironman races and triathlons
but I think I like this sport even more. I am looking for a good
source on spring/summer/fall training...I guess I'll have to get
roller skiis! Any help to point to resources is appreciated...thanks,

Bill

Consider joining American Cross Country Skiers (AXCS):
http://www.xcskiworld.com/axcs/axcs.htm

If you are near Bend, Oregon, XC Oregon's Spring Camp will cover
dryland training in addition to on-snow time:
http://www.xcoregon.org/spring_camp.html

This has been a warm year so Bachelor Nordic's base is down to 10
feet, but if normal weather patterns hold, the snow pack should be
good enough for the early April ski camp. We had fresh falling snow
during the classic race at last year's National Masters in late March.

Good for you! Try www.xcskiworld.com on the performance link.
www.nordicracer.com has interesting info. Where do you live?

I found trail maintenance to be a good source for off season training.
Lugging lumber to repair bridges, digging culvert crossings, leveling
trails with a maddock, as well as the usual fallen tree cutting (no
chain saws allowed!), branch trimming and trail marking. It also gets
you out in the woods which is very nice.

Hi Bill,

You can get in touch with Hardwoodhills or Duntroon Highlands. They
both have masters team you could join for training. There's not that
much for you right in T.O., however - except you can rollerski there.

Cheers

Thanks to everyone for their replies so far. How best to choose
roller-skiis for the novice roller skier? Obviously safety is a
factor esp. since I've never done it...thanks.
