Burton SL-6 Boots??
I've only been boarding once before. By the end of the week I'd managed to
carve some turns and stay on my feet (most of the time). This time round I decided I'd buy some boots - I really like the Burton SL-6. Does anyone have any experience of these boots and does anyone think I need years more experience before I buy these boots?? I.e. will I spend most of the time on my arse if I buy them or doesn't it make any difference?? Cheers |

Burton SL-6 Boots??
This time round I
decided I'd buy some boots - I really like the Burton SL-6. Does anyone have any experience of these boots and does anyone think I need years more experience before I buy these boots?? The three most important things in a boot: Fit, fit, and fit. If they fit well, you'll have good control and you'll be able to ride all day. If they don't fit, your feet will hurt after one or two runs and you'll be in the lodge. Now assuming the SL-6 fits you well, is it too advanced for you? To answer that, ask yourself - is the boot too stiff for you. A boot that is too stiff will be too responsive and you'll catch edges. Generally the stiffest soft boots are for people who want to carve a lot, don't want hard boots, and don't want to do a lot of tweaking tricks. Based on the stiffness ratings on the Burton web site, and the fact that they pitch it as a freestyle boot (freestyle boots are generally not that stiff - but watch out for K2 in this respect) , I'd have to guess that pretty much anyone could use these right away or grow into them skill-wise quickly. So if you've got the money ($350 US retail), want to spend it, and most important, they fit... you should be fine. -Mike T P.S. If you haven't already, try on a Salomon boot. Salomon boots tend to fit very differently from Burtons in my experience. That will give you some perspective on the fit. |
