Best wishes for a fast recovery - r.s.r.e wouldn't be half as colourful
without him. Comment in the motorbikes group about "hack and slash job
at the barbers" made me chuckle :-)

I echo that. It is really sad to here that a fellow biker and skier has
been hurt and I really hope he can make it back for the winter season.

Doesn't it just make you think that most of us here live life on the edge?
You sort of appreciate it more, and maybe we'll all take fewer risks this
coming season now. After all, this could equally have been a skiing
accident.

Thanks for passing that on.

Sounds very nasty.

But if he broke vertebrae and is still expected to recover, it could
have been worse.

I doubt if he will. It is likely to be at least 6 months before the
doctors let him do anything that could put a strain on his back.

I have had two relatives who have broken backs (a brother at neck
level playing rugby, and a daughter crushed two lower lumbar vertebrae
on a Sealed Knot battlefield).

Both recovered, but it was well over 6 months before they were doing
serious physical activity - or in the case of my daughter, doing
anything much at all without her exoskeleton back brace on.
