Default My Kind of New Years Party

From the Cottonwood Canyons Forecast Page:

Remarks: Snow and wind will gradually increase on Wednesday afternoon
and evening as the Pacific storm approaches. Significant snow and very
strong southwest winds are expected on Thursday. A cold front will
move through Northern Utah Thursday night. Significant snows are
expected through the weekend with total accumulations of 2-4 feet
possible...or more!

Does this mean your rock skis have been put away?

Weather like this only means that rocks that have been 12' up in the air are
now hiding 2" under the surface. What used to be "air" are now edge rippers.
I found that when there was "tons" of snow is when I really did the
permanent damage to my skis as opposed to just the fixable core shot. I look
at skis like a new truck. NO fun if you don't put any miles on it.

Sure, but with dedicated rock skis I don't even worry about avoiding
the damned things...ski over anything. With my good skis, at least I
make somewhat of an effort.

The key is to know where the usual rock fields are, and avoid them.

Funny thing though, haven't had a core shot ever since I started
skiing on Volkls.
