Default Goggles Lens Colors

I've seen clear, dark, and yellow lens colors on goggles. What's the
purpose of each color? I guess I already know that the dark is for a bright
day. So, I guess I'm really asking if the yellow are for the overcast days
when the snow looks flat and you can't see the bumps.

Yes. Irregularities in snow create bluish shadows - yellow lens increase
the contrast of the shadows for enhanced visibility in flat
[flat=overcast, to first order] light.

Marketing geniuses can get us customers arguing for days over which
particular yellow shade works best - plain ol' yeller, rosy, amber, etc.

So have at it folks -

Orange is pretty all purpose and pink is for blizzard. Clear is for
night skiing mainly. Yellow is good for flat light sort of
interchangable with pink,
