Default Val D'Isere racing cancelled

I see that the "Critereum de la 1ere neige" has been cancelled for the
weekend *AFTER* next at Val D'Isere - so they must not be able to see
either real snow *or* low enough temperatues to run their snowmaking yet!

They had no choice, FIS rules insist that the course is up to scratch
ten days before the race proper, what the weather might or might not do
in the meantime is not taken into account.

There is actually a fair amount of snow on the O.K. at Val, but double
layers of safety netting have to be installed for the speed events and
there's no way that was possible given the depths of snow.

There's been a little snow over the past 24 hours, and some more is
forecast from early next week.

The valdinet.com website noted that they have hardly done snything with
their vast snowmaking ability as yet. Presumably they are waiting for
more consistent lower temperatures!
