Sheesh, lal. YOU do something, like...take up a summer sport?
C'mon, bud, there are lotsa alternatives...you don't have to
languish all summer long!

Who's languishing? I've GOT a summer sport! I sit on the deck and drink
beer. Sometimes I vary it, and drink wine. Sometimes I become intensely
active, and walk down to a store and restock the beer and wine.

Occasionally I let the insistent howls suggesting I fix something around
the cabin stir me to rise and survey the potential project; where-upon,
after close study, I retire to the deck and carefully plan the project.

You should definitely get yourself a boat. As it is, everybody thinks
your a crotchety old coot who sits around and drinks all day. If you
got a boat, they'd call you "fisherman", and you wouldn't have to change
your daily activities one bit.

I haven't yet earned the right to proudly wear the appellation:
Crotchety Old Coot. But I sure hope I live long enough to deserve the
tribute.

ObSki: In the mean time: skis should reach to the base of your thumb
when your arm is held vertical. Anything shorter cannot and does not
provide adequate directional stability, and contributes to injury,
plague, and harm to small mammalian animals.

What a coincidence. The UPS guy just delivered a Mystery Parcel
from Foothills Ski and Bike that is just exactly that length. I
wonder what it could be.

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me...

You got your very own foothill as a birthday present? Is it big enough
to ski on?

Alas, no, but I suspect I got something very nearly as good...a pair
of Atomic super g skis...

Cor, can borrow them? I'm intending on doing my first masters race (on
snow) next year and us dry slope racers only have slalom skis!
