There was rec.skiing from the early days of Usenet. Apparently some time in 1993, rec.skiing was divided into 8 or so sub-groups. I found this place in 1995.

Wow -- I remember Eugene Miya from the olden days. I also remember how extremely geeky RSA was in '95, a holdover from the RS_null days like post #1 and post #2.
