Default carrying the gear

I'm curious about what kinds of storage boxes people use for their waxes,
waxing tools, even possibly irons or butane torches, etc. A fishing tackle
box crosses my mind, but I'm wondering what else might be out there.
Ideally it will be big enough for most everything, but also portable, in
case I want to bring the whole thing along with me somewhere. TIA.

An aluminum looking tool briefcase from the hardward store. Often on
sale at Home Depot.

An empty kitty litter container.

With the snap off cover I presume.

I usually use a Plano tackle box with separate removable snap-top trays
that fit hard wax, klister tubes, and glide wax nearly perfectly. For
trips involving airline flights I pare down the waxes to the expected
condition and use smaller snap-top plastic trays (available separately
and cheap) in a carry-on size bag. I've heard horror stories of folks
losing their wax it to overzelous NTSB inspections, but I have yet to
have a problem. I follow the good guidlines found on the American
Cross Country Skier website and tell the baggage check agent what's in
there.

The Toko and Swix cases look nice, but they're much more expensive than
a good tackle box.

Bert Kleerup, proprietor of Eagle River Nordic, has a theory about wax
boxes: The farther south a skier lives, the bigger the wax box.

I'm from Indiana, and have the largest wax box I have yet seen at any
races, so I fit the theory. Maybe us southern skiers just dream and
worry about the waxing more, since we get less actual snow time, and
treat the desire/anxiety by buying and carrying more wax! (As time
goes on, I'm carrying less and less.)

I once bought a beautiful red expensive Swix Box for just this purpose.

Our first race of the season in Scotland was a combined military/civilian event and an army lorry reversed
over the opened box, flattened the soft plastic sides which squashed out my klister tubes!!
Nearby squaddies said the driver wasn't connected with their group and they didnt know his depot.
