Hi

i am supposed to be heading out to canada this winter to do a season, thing
is though i sold my snowboard at the end of last season and i need a new
one, do you think its best to get one out there, or to buy one here(i am
looking to get a 2nd hand one) i am travelling from the UK and my only
concern is lugging a board around with me on the way and also the obvious
issue, the price, is it easy to pick up second hand board in resorts(im
going to banff) and how do the prices in the shops compare to those in the
uk?

cheers for any help

Sam

As a canadian I can say that boards are more expensive here than in the US
but cheaper than the UK. There are alot of good boardshops in Alberta.
Try looking up the Rudeboys website. Definately buy from wherever you end
up living. I find you get better service from the people you bought your
gear from.

Get it there. Logging boards about isn't much of a problem, it's just
cheaper to get gear outside the UK. Also the range is better and you have a
chance of some relatively expert assistance plus even the odd test. If
you're only buying one board then you don't really know what you'll be
needing until you've seen the conditions where you're going.

2nd hand gear... should be lots of it about in a resort, I'd say. Banff's a
bit flash; you might do better price-wise in a more locals place outside the
park.
