Best Ski Center Sauna in Northeast?
I'm on a mission to find a true finnish sauna experience (i.e., getting
whacked around with a birch branch, jumping in a lake, etc.) and am trying to find a public place that provides the right facilities (may be turned into an article about saunas for CCS ...) Can anyone recommend a ski center with good sauna facilities? (I've always liked the sauna at Craftsbury (very hot and close to back door leading to snow banks to roll in), but it's not quite the full Finnish formula...) Thanks in advance, Jon |

The only Finnish sauna I know of in the Northeast, at a XC center, is
at Lapland Lakes in New York. A true Finnish wood fired sauna in the back of the center building. Cautions: (1) it's usually not fired up until late in the day and you may have to fool with it to get it hot and (2) Lapland Lakes XC center is a a small piece of land and trails constantly switch back to squeeze in the K, not very desirable. |
