Bloody cheap transfer from Salzburg to Zell am See?

5 of us are arriving at Salzburg Airport on the evening of Sat 28th
Feb and needing a cheapo way of getting to Zell am See (and back again
a week later on Sat 6th March).

I've seen that there's a train, but am wondering if there's a cheaper
way, e.g. A nice Austrian with a big van.

Failing that, a cheap hire car would be nice (that could fit 5 of us
with skis and luggage) - anyone have any particular recommendations?

The train prices are amazingly cheap, actually. Try www.oebb.at as a start
and email them. They usually reply in a day or two and their English is
fine.
