Best Small French Resort for Beginners
Looking for advice and any suggestions...
Somewhere probably in French Alps, good for improving beinners ie. confidence building greens & blues for progression needed, with ski in-ski out possiblilities and preferably that looks nice too. Am I asking too much ? Is this possible ? It doesn't have to be big & famous, could be one of the wee weekend places that seem popular with French families... La Feclaz, Collet d'Allevard ? or maybe somewhere in amongst all those places in the Maurienne ? Any suggestions welcome. All the best, Edi |

Bill Sounds good but unfortunately we have been there ! We had to negotiate 56 steps from the front door of our apartment which was a pain (with kids, skis, no lift)... but it was a nice town centre. Any other places ? What is Valloire, Valmeiner like ? All the best, Edi |

Valloire would fit the bill for access to pistes (greens and blues
accessible from 2 gondolas). Les Verneys (2 km outside Valloire has some good chalets / appartments try Peak retreats for details) but not quite ski in ski out (200 m from chair lift, ski bus to town goes from outside the door). Village is OK but nothing special. Mark Hunter "Edi" wrote in message ... "Bill Seddon" wrote in message ... Edi wrote: Looking for advice and any suggestions... These kinds of places are much underrated.
Val Cenis (Haute Maurienne) is well worth considering, with something for most abilities. Good lift system to get you up to higher terrain, and if you're really after 'safe', there's Escargot - longest green run around, going right back down to the village. Very friendly, too - and easily accessible from TGV rail station in Modane, if that's an issue. RM "Edi" wrote in message news Looking for advice and any suggestions... Hi Edi
Why don't you take a look at La Clusaz. It's one of my favourite resorts, very French, very pretty and very close to Geneva airport too. Visit www.laclusaz.com for more info. It has plenty of nice blue and green runs (especially on the Beauregard Plateau). Also some good ski-in-ski-out accommodation. I can recommend Chalel Panoramic (www.snowlife.co.uk), the Hotel Beauregard (3*) and Hotel Les Sapins (2*). All are ski-in ski-out. Hope this helps. FionaG |

I had forgotten about La Clusaz... I went there a long time ago (1988). Enjoyed the skiing but can't remember much about the place (it was a pre-family lads trip !). I will investigate those places. They sound well situated... on easy return runs ? All the best, Edi |

'Big Bernard' as we used to call it. Spent 1 day there when we went to La Clusaz. Do you have any accommodation recommendations ? All the best, Edi |
