Roger - a brief explanation.

Yes I am fully functioning. However there has been a incident over
here that had been ongoing for 18 months (the ramifications are still
being felt). In March of 2006, during spring break, members of the
Duke Lacrosse team had a party at off site location and had ordered
two strippers. The booking company sent two black women instead of the
request for white/hispanic. Not a savory situation at all. One of the
strippers showed up high on booze and drugs and couldn't perform. The
situation deteriorated and the parties separated angrily. The high
stripper was driven to the hospital and to prevent from being arrested
on drug-related charges screamed she had been raped. The woman as it
turned out was a prostitute with 3 illegitimate children a criminal
record (she had tried to run over a cop with a stolen cab). Since the
case theoretically represented 3 whites raping a black, the press was
all over it. The DA - Mike Nifong who had been appointed on an interim
basis decided that this was his ticket to get elected to a new term in
a heavily black area -Durham, NC. He performed bizarre and illegal/
unethical acts in trying to build his case (He was eventually forced
to resign, was disbarred and convicted of perjury. Now he is being
sued in civil court and is under indictment for his actions in this
case).
There was NO evidence to support any of the accusations No DNA, One of
the accused was not even on the site at the time the crime was to have
occurred. The line-up was deliberately stacked, the accuser constantly
changing her story, DA withholding exculpatory evidence. The state
assumed the prosecution and declared the accused "innocent".

What does this have to do with Global Warming, MRSA etc? The press
throughout the entire exercise was going to put those three boys in
jail for 30 years. They ignored the evidence (or lack thereof), hid
the truth. The main problems were the New York Times. The Raleigh News
and Observer, Durham Herald Sun and CNN. A history professor(KC
Johnson) at NYU was so upset at the treatment he began a blog to
counteract the falsehoods propagated by the MSM - He's won a number of
awards now - but the only thing between those boys and prison was the
pressure exhibited by those blogs- The blogs that have been ridiculed
here-they produced the truth when it was needed. Those of us intimate
with this case know what happened and without a doubt the Media had a
political/economic agenda. They have been totally exposed but
contrition is not part of their vocabulary. Meanwhile, the three
students had to spend $5,000,000 to defend themselves. Duke hasn't
shown any contrition either - they immediately kicked the boys out of
school and a significant portion of the faculty has continued to
attack them verbally.

Fortunately, the families have been made whole financially. Duke has
make multimillion dollar settlements out of court to avoid public
humiliation. The families are now suing Durham for the malicious and
fraudulent prosecution.

In summary, based upon the performance of the media and the
"enlightened" academics at Duke, only an idiot would allow them to
influence any major decisions. Significant portions of both groups
lied and were willing to sacrifice innocents to further their
"vision". Golly gee, who are we looking at participating in the GW
arena, omigod.

Bear in mind, if it wasn't for a large number of the blogs that I
access, the truth would have never surfaced.

I don't watch CNN much and don't read the local papers, but WRT the
New York Times, I smell horse****. You got any links to any articles
where they proclaim the guys guilty? I'd be interested to see them.

Sadly, you live in a country with an amazing media. I don't know who
controls it, or if anyone does, but what ends up being aired is often at
extreme odds with just about every other country's media. Most countries
also have a strong dissenting media voice, but I don't know where that is in
the US, as I never heard it/read it.
