Recall of Ortovox M1 and M2
I see that Ortovox have issued a recall of some models of the M1 and M2
transceiver. Apparently there is a rare condition whereby some brands of AA batteries might disconnect when the unit is subjected to a jolt. see http://www.ortovox.com/typo7/index.php?id=58&L=1 Mike -- o/ \\ // |\ ,_ o Mike Clark \__,\\ // __o | \ / /\, "A mountain climbing, cycling, skiing, " || _`\,_ |__\ \ | immunology lecturer, antibody engineer and ` || (_)/ (_) | \corn computer user" |

This does happen with a variety of electronic devices when subjected to shock or vibration. Early Garmin eTrex GPS units, for example. The root problem is that the device maker has to allow for the extremely wide variation in dimensions from brand to brand of batteries. If they design it snugger, then certain batteries will not even fit. Two options: Add a tiny bit of foam behind the batteries and/or inside the battery cover. Find a battery brand that does not shake loose in that device, and stick with it. Happy trails, Gary (net.yogi.bear) -- At the 51st percentile of ursine intelligence Gary D.
