Me and my wife are planning a ski vacation to Telluride during President's
weel (Feb 16 - Feb 23) and would like to save money. So far I found a place
in Ridgway which the inn keeper says is only 45 minutes away from the resort
plus they give a 42% discount on lift tickets.

Are there similar deals in Ouray or other towns close by?

Thanx in advance

Alan

Ouray is not close by, (around 50 miles) neither is Ridgway. (it is
around 40 miles away from Telluride) Ouray is a great little town, but
I wouldn't stay there if your plan is soley to ski Telluride, even one
wanted to ski at Silverton and Telluride, I would choose either or, not
something in between like Ouray. The road to Ridgway isn't exactly
straight and even. If you want to stay that far out, and really save
money and stay in Montrose. If there is a big storm in the area, I
wouldn't be exactly thrilled in driving back to Ridgway after a day at
Telluride.

I would stay at the Mountain Village or in town when skiing at
Telluride. Half of Telluride charm is the town atmosphere, plus stuff
like the cafes and the community free box, instead of pseudo village
atmosphere of Whistler, which comes across more as the village in "The
Prisoner" TV series.

Save the extra gas money, and spend it on a good wine, beer or espresso
in town.

If you want a deal, go through some of the realtors and property
management companies in Telluride that have plenty of time shares that
are vacant, you should find something cheaper than something at Mountain
Village for example.

Rofl the Prisoner. This winter in Whistler I'm going to try to find
out who Number One is.

It's way worth it to stay right in Telluride. Booking this early you
should have the opportunity to find some decent deal you can live
with.

Chris
