Default Valmeinier how is that ?

Hi

I'm going to Valmeinier (Fr) for the first time in january- anybody's ever
been there ? We're going to stay in Valmeinier 1800- are the slopes there ok
or will we be going to Valloire everyday ?

Not sure how much help this is, but we went there 2 years ago -
unfortunately there wasn't much snow around (or anywhere in France) and
several of the runs were closed. Nice resort with some night life and 1800
has good ski-in ski-out. There is sufficient snow-making in the resort to
keep you skiing, but usually (so we were told) there is no problem with snow
and there is a good deal of off-piste to enjoy.

I wouldn't recommend going into Valloire itself as there's a bit of a walk
to the far slopes and they were very busy, however the runs between the two
resorts were good (considering the conditions) and very quiet. Not much
snow-making here but at the top its quite high (and cold) so there was a
fair amount of packed pisted runs for a group of varying standards to enjoy.
If the snow cover is poor a short drive into and along the valley will take
you to Oreilles (sp?) where you can catch the gondola to Val Thorens which
has glacier skiing.

We went to Valmeinier a few years back. Unfortuneatly there was
absolutely no snow and not a single lift running. We were bussed daily
to Val Frejus which I thought was a really nice little ski area.

Does any one know what happened to proposed link between Valmeinier and
Val Frejus?
