Default ski flex/pressure dist.

Ok, a number of current threads are talking in some form about ski
flex and pressure distribution.

My skate skis are 14 years old and I'm 35 lbs heavier that when I
bought them.

My questions.

1. Do skis loose a lot of flex over the years?
2. What effect will I see from too soft of a ski?
3. Could this be why I feel like I'm on ice skates (or rather VERY
short skis) rather than skis when I'm going down a hard packed (icy)
hill? This strikes me as being similar to the difference between a sea
kayak (long) and a white water kayak (short).
4. Does question #3 have anything to do with the "reverse camber"
mentioned in another thread?
5. If I buy a new pair of skis, what will I notice?

Wood-yes, carbon - not likely.

They feel better on new fresh snow.

3. Could this be why I feel like I'm on ice skates (or rather VERY

They are, probably, too short. The recommended length increased over
the years for skating ski and, like bike top tube, you should add
10mm (for skis -1") for every decade of skiing -this is just my thought.

4. Does question #3 have anything to do with the "reverse camber"
mentioned in another thread?

Possibly.

5. If I buy a new pair of skis, what will I notice?

Price.

Question:
You are a kayaker and probably a good one.
I want to try competitive kayaking (I live near the ocean).
Surf ski is too cold. What kayak would you choose?
Sorry for off-topic.

Not inherently from what I've read, but supposedly they can if stored in
too warm a place for an extended time (off season) with ties holding
both ends.
