Default Meribel (3 Valleys) Update

Just thought I'd give an update of conditions in Meribel, from which I
have just returned. Went out on the 19th. Very mild indeed. On way to
Meribel went through Annecy people were swimming in the lake and
rollerblading in shorts and t-shirt.

First few days Meribel was somewhere around 15/16/17 degrees in the
day time. Recently (i.e. thu/fri) it has been a little cooler maybe
14/15 in the day. The resort slopes seem to be holding out very well
considering the temperature. By saying that I mean they havent melted
although they are horribly slushy and mogulled.

Top of Rodos beginner slopes seem to be pretty good. Heading high up
to Salire in the morning & anywhere else on the other side of the
valley seems to be decent. In the afternoon almost everywhere turns
into slushy moguls by say about 1:30.

Was raining on thursday night in the village but did snow up high (i'd
say 2300+). Rain did little damage to resort runs though. VT seems to
be pretty good, Les Menuries is very patchy, and Courchevel is
beginning to turn that way. However, considering lots of snow had
fallen before this warm spell there is still decent skiing in the 3
valleys. Get up early and it should all be good (run down to St.
Martin was particularly nice) though dont expect to ski much after 3
as the slush gets pretty tiring on the legs.

Oh yeh, according to the weather report in Meribel tourist office it
should be snowing above 1800m some time in the next few days which is
good news.
