Check this out.

A News (NNTP) error occurred: mail: RCPT
(554 5.7.1
: Relay access denied)

This is the message I got when I've tried to post
either by "reply" or "write" a new post.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.
I'm using the Ubuntu version of Thunderbird
as my mail reader.

Thanks in advance.

Did they decide that stalkers and people who pathologically lie aren't
welcome?
Nah. Couldn't happen.
After all, it is a terrorist newsgroup, where no matter how vile your
behavior here, you are welcome.

Never seen this before, have you recently changed/added/upgraded any
software?

Thunderbird has been (automagically) upgraded recently
as have other bits in Ubuntu here and there but nothing
very significant.

There are hyphens instead of dots. Usenet uses dots. No idea what
moderators.isc.org is, but it's certainly not involved.

Arre you using some sort of non-usenet 'forum' which sucks in usenet and
pretends that it owns it? I set a google alert for myself, and it
showed some dumb 'forum' site I'd never visited/heard of which had
sucked in our posts from 2003 and redated them to the current date.
Shoddy practice to say the least.

Thunderbird/linux has had some quirky updates recently, but I haven't
had any problems like VT describes.

You mean as in Google Groups? No. My local ISP has
real news servers. They are limited and sometimes
go down but are not Internet servers.

Maybe the next update will fix it. ;-]

I'll give that a shot or maybe try X-News. I've used that in the past.

That wasn't me, the attributions are muddled.

Personally, I'm getting really skittish about upgrades and have no
confidence whatsoever in being able to downgrade.

I think is where
newservers should send moderated group msgs, which it should send on to
appropreate moderators for approval. It doesn't look as if it is sending
msgs on - if that's the case it's before moderators are involved.
Nothing has arrived at my moderation interface for approval.
