US Nordic Ski Champion retires, quietly

After all the talk recently on the state of US nordic skiing I'm surprised that the USians have not commented on the achievements of Todd Lodwick.
The commentators at the recent Oly's reported that he was due to retire at the end of the season,but
I've not seen this in print.
The guy races and trains on our skis, uses our gear and technology and is dedicated to our sport.
Is it because he also jumps that he and his fellow racers dont seem to get the recognition here?
