Default new bindings -- why Ti?

I just bought some new bindings to go with the new skis. I noticed that
each Salomon set came in either Ti or non-Ti options. I ended up buying
the Ti for no good reason. My question is, what does Titanium do for a
ski binding, if anything?

Lasts longer than plastic, is stronger than plastic, is lighter than
plastic.

Nothing good or desirable, in other words.

- - In theory it makes it lighter, you can build bits that weight
much less for the same strength out of Ti.

For the record, Salomon has to have one of the most annoying websites in
the entire ski industry. What's wrong with a simple datasheet? I don't
need a multimedia extravaganza to look at binding specs!!

I didn't realize they were replacing plastic with Ti. I was thinking
just the metal parts.

Thanks for the quick response =)

There are a few competitors in the outdoor industry for most overdone
website.

I have a good DSL connection, and when a sight takes 30 seconds to pop
of on my systems, I would guess that anyone using a dial-up connection
is long gone before they see anything.

Websites can be artisitc, as long as they have a Joe Friday option.

Happy trails,
