Default need help regarding a specific board

I got a rossignol sly snowboard as a gift. it is good for my size and
weight, but I think it might be too advanced for my needs: I have a
week and a half experience with snowboards, and I don't do any
freestyle (yet).
my question is: do you think the board is too advanced for me?
is the fact that it is designed as a freestyle will be a problem for
doing freeride with it?

thanks.
