Default Jackson Hole questions

I am planning a trip with some friends and we are thinking about Jackson
Hole. One person has a concern that they heard that the trails are tougher
than they should be for their ratiing (blue, green..) Anyone have
experience at Jackson Hole? Is there enough for beginners?

No, the trail markings at Jackson are exactly as they should be - it's
all the other places that attach unwarrented difficulty to their runs,
resulting in groomed beginner slopes with Double Diamond signage.

Possibly you are put off by hearing about?

However, there is plenty of intermediate skiing and some beginner runs,
primarily on the northern reaches. Jackson is BIG, so the available
slopes should be more than enough for your crew. Check out the trail map
http://www.jacksonhole-skiing.com/maps/ski_trail_maps.php,
particularly the runs to the right (north.)

Give it a shot. If you have time, go around to Targhee for a day trip,
while you're in the area.

There are more tough trails there than at almost
any other area so to make full use of the terrain
(and your lift ticket cost) you have to be a pretty adept skier. Also
when you get off the tram the
top of the mountain can be really cold and windy with some wind blown
ice (keep edges
sharp). Right in the town of Jackson there's
a hill called Snow King that has easier slopes.
If you have the money (a lot) stay at the
Jackson Lake Lodge, it probably has the most stunning view of any hotel
in the country. Also
in winter the Elk herds come into the area which can be a beautiful
sight.

I am thinking of going to Jackson Hole this December. How are the snow
conditions in mid December? Who runs the two ski areas?

TIA,
Dan
