Snow in Colorado

Time for an update

Okay, no natural snow yet - just a dusting here and there. But the snowmaking
continues.

Loveland has pushed back their opening date from 17 Oct to 24 Oct.

Overnight lows in the ski towns have been in the 20's with some nights in the
teens. Daytime highs, however, are still in the 50's and 60's. Presumably
it's at least a little cooler up at the snowmaking elevations.

Meanwhile out here on the front range we finally got a hard freeze (24 degrees)
in the shdow of Pikes Peak. But we are now in a long session of high temps
pushing 80. Too warm to even wax skis.

Sunday, nearing 90. Yikes!

Well, warm enough to wax skis. Far too warm to scrape/buff the wax.
Ugly thought, we can do a solar powered hot wax on the skis this
weekend. Wait until midnite to scrape/buff.

Well, with any luck, 7 days. But I fear if I continue to correct
you, the opening day gets pushed off even more.
