Flaine Overnight parking
I'm off to Courmayeur on Saturday, Some friends are staying in an Apartment
in Flaine for and The plan is to stay with them on Saturday night, Ski with them in Flaine on the Sunday, Then head through the tunnel to Courmayeur to spend the week training for the Kandahar British Masters which is the following weekend. We've never been to Flaine before, so can anyone tell me is the parking as easy as their website implys and How much is it? -- Chris *:-) |

We've never been to Flaine before, so can anyone tell me is the parking as easy as their website implys and How much is it? Yes, parking will be very easy, but first find out which level your friends are staying at and park in the appropriate place, P3 for Foret, P2 for Forum (or P1 for 'Front de Neige' but they won't be staying there, I'm sure. Both main levels (Foret and Forum) allow access into the station proper for 90 minutes to facilitate loading, after which you're liable for a massive (~20Eu/hr) charge if you stay inside the barriers. The proper parking charges, IIRC, 3eu/hr for the first eight hours, then much less. Something like that anyway. I'd strongly suggest that on the Sunday you pack up and drive round to the free parkings at Vernant or Molliere, both of which give excellent access onto the ski area. It's just two 6-man chairlifts from Vernant to get back into the Flaine bowl, or just one from either to ski in the Samoens and Les Carroz areas. As well as saving parking fees, you'll also be able to get away with a good 30-minute head start over the rest of the Sunday day-skiers, which may be significant to your overall journey time. -- Ace (brucedotrogers a.t rochedotcom) Ski Club of Great Britain - http://www.skiclub.co.uk All opinions expressed are personal and in no way represent those of the Ski Club. |
