Default Tahoe area: snow above ~8000?

Can anyone from the Truckee/Tahoe area give a report on the amount of
snow left above ~8000, and on BC skiing, if any, conditions in the
area in general? I looked up snow sensor data, it shows anywhere
between 24 and 40 inches left, but how skiable that is is hard to
guess. Are Echo lakes already clear of ice?

Replying to myself -

Still plenty of snow above 8,000 feet in the Tahoe area, especially if
you stick to N-exposed slopes. Skied with my wife from Rt 88 over
Carson Pass to 'Mets lake", "Four lakes", "Round lake" (the route to
Big Meadow on Rt 89) and back. Made the route back a bit more
challenging by climbing over an unnamed pass to 9,100 feet on the
Little Round Top Ridge for some great views and a fun run down back to
Carson Pass. 6 hrs of fun. Will probably go again next weekend. Have
to figure out how to telemark. Both of us used E99-like setups. Did
not need skins, but will probably get skins for the next weekend ski -
we wanna climb the ridge on the other side of Carson Pass (Round top
and the Two Sisters).

People are still crust cruising in the broad Bozeman/Yellowstone area.
There was a big trail work event scheduled today for up back in Hyalite
Canyon, in the mountains SE of Bozeman, that had to be postponed until
early June due to 2' of new snow this week.
